Motherhood changes everything, your routine, your priorities, your sleep schedule… and sometimes, your sense of self and it all started with flamingos.
The moment I realised I had my pink back
Recently I was in Milan and I saw these beautiful pink flamingos. It stopped me in my tracks because I remembered something fascinating: flamingos actually lose their pink colour while they’re nurturing their young. Their vibrant colour fades while they’re putting all their energy into caring for their babies. And standing there looking at them, I suddenly thought… Wow, that’s exactly what motherhood can feel like.
When motherhood changes your colour
For the past couple of years I’ve been fully in boy mama mode. I breastfed for 19 months, and like so many mums, so much of my energy went into nurturing, feeding and caring for my little one. And while it’s the most beautiful experience, it can also feel like parts of you, your spark, your rhythm, your pizzazz - get put on pause for a while.
So when I saw those flamingos, it felt really symbolic. Because suddenly I realised: I’ve got my pink back.
Finding your groove as a mum
It’s taken me about two years to feel like I’m properly in the groove of motherhood. And honestly? That’s completely okay. Motherhood isn’t something you instantly master. It’s something you grow into.
Now I feel like I’ve found that rhythm where:
• I’m embracing being a mum
• I’ve got my career back in motion
• My little one is along for the ride
• And life feels fun again
That sense of energy, colour and confidence has come back. My pop is back.
Why getting your 'Pink Back' matters
So many women experience a period after pregnancy where their bodies and identities shift. Hormones change, energy levels fluctuate and priorities evolve. But over time and with the right support that spark returns. Your colour comes back and when it does, it’s powerful. Because you’re not just the same woman you were before motherhood. You’re stronger, wiser and doing it all with a baby in tow.
For every mum finding her way
If you’re still in the thick of it, the sleepless nights, the endless feeds, the learning curve of motherhood - just know this: Your pink will come back too and when it does, you’ll feel it. That moment when you realise you’ve found your groove again.
Your energy, your confidence, your pizzazz.
Just like the flamingos.
